It also stated, with a clear link: "There are some minor exceptions (aren't there always?). http://www.ChessUSA.com/shipping.shtml " This link was included in the email, not to hide the fact that there were exceptions, but rather to allow people the opportunity to see what the exceptions were so they would not waste their time. I am sorry that you did not read the full email and called only to be told that software was not included, and I am sorry that your $800 went elsewhere, but to say that the emailing was misleading is a bit harsh, don't you think? Software is less than 5% of our business. It is not as if we took the CCC mailing list and boasted free shipping when we knew that the majority of people would want to buy software. We did the mailing to our general customer emailing list, and we knew that less than 5% would care anything about software. The promotion has been very successful. You have been our only complaint. Most people have been absolutely delighted, so much so that we have extended the offer through at least the end of the week. If our purpose was to fool people and waste their time, we would have left out the exceptions part, but that is not what we are all about. The email is below in its entirety. I apologize if anyone here thinks this is a free promotion for us, but I feel that I have to let you all judge for yourselves whether we meant to mislead here.. Steve (ICD/Your Move Chess & Games) The ENTIRE Email: What is America's largest chess store and the Internet's most visited chess shopping web site doing for YOU this holiday season??? How about... For a limited time... FREE shipping OR REDUCED air shipping For on-line continental U.S. orders totaling $40 or more. http://www.ChessUSA.com There are some minor exceptions (aren't there always?). http://www.ChessUSA.com/shipping.shtml This offer is scheduled to expire on Monday, December 4, 2000 at noon (Eastern time) UNLESS it is so wildly successful that we cannot help but continue it!! That, of course will be up to you. If you wish to be removed from our occasional mailings, please click on reply and type "remove CR" in the subject header. If you wish to receive mailings but have received more than one of these, just let us know within the text that we should only send you one email at a shot. We apologize for the intrusion.
