As the author of EXchess, this concerns me greatly. I never released the endgame tablebase code as GPL. I simply included those files in my distribution (like crafty) so that people could compile my program. I've written to Eugene about this. I really feel terrible about this and for now I am pulling the EXchess source-code from my webpage and would ask others to do the same (for those who have posted it) until this is cleared up.
