For tournament chess players, the Par Excellence should be strong enough for only about 90% of them, at most. I would not buy a dedicated chess machine, they are either too weak, too small or way too expensive. I believe that the dedicated machine market is not dead, I have just seen a few expensive machines in a departament store, and I am pretty sure that most of them will be sold before Christmas. Clients there do not need a super strong program, most likely they are casual and not tournament players. José.
