From a brief glance at a deeper thread, it looks like they start in a
hard-to-read light green, and then progressively get darker and bluer, leading
to an ok dark purple color by the fourth level.  Maybe if they just reversed the
sequence and started with the dark purple it would be ok?  I don't mind being
unable to read the light green quotations if they're from messages four levels
back.
