Subject: ECM errata (101 thru 150)

Here are some more comments on positions 101 thru 150. Once again,
cross-checking is needed and welcome.

No. 112 (Qc6):

This one's correct, and also difficult and subtle. Black is a piece up
but what to do about the threat of perpetual Ng5+ ? Qc6 throws a piece
and gets it back like this: Qc6 Qxe5 Bb7 Re1 Kh8!! Amazing.

Recommend: No change.

No. 115 (Nxh7):

Correct and difficult.

Recommend: No change.

No. 117 (Ne7+):

The key move is a 1-ply combination, but Ra7 is much stronger and neat.

Recommend: Change key to Ra7.

No. 123 (Nxd6):

The key move is not really satisfactory, I think. Stronger is Bxe5. If
dxe5 Nh4 and if Rxe5 Nd7 both win a piece.

Recommend: Change key to Bxe5.

No. 130 (Rxe7):

I nearly wrote off this one as incorrect, but it works: Rxe7 Qxe7 Qf3
Kg7 Nce4 dxe4 Nxe4 Qe6 Bxf6+ Kg8 Qf4! wins. Should be quite difficult.

Recommend: No change.

No. 131 (c5):

I get g4 Bg6 c5 etc. It looks like a transposition since after c5 Nxd5
white should play g4 immediately or the next move.

Recommend: Add g4 as side solution.

No. 133 (Rxe4):

Seems correct, though the score is unconvincing.

Recommend: No change. More analysis please.

No. 137 (c6):

c6 doesn't look like it really works. Anyway I get Qe2 which is more
convincing.

Recommend: Change key to Qe2.

No. 142 (d3+):

I don't see the point to the key. d3+ Kh1 and then what ? I tried Qa1
and Qf2 but they fail.

Recommend: Get rid of it.

No. 145 (Bd4+):

Bd4+ does something, but is a waste of energy. I find Rf2! an original
way to guard the rook which incidentally wins a piece.

Recommend: Change key to Rf2.

No. 148 (Rfc8):

I think it's correct, but I need a stronger machine for this than this
notebook. At long analysis I find only Nxf4 for a draw score, but a long
analysis of Rfc8 starts showing plus scores.

Recommend: Needs more analysis.
