To make that color list work correctly the test page should have the same white background as the message pages have, i.e. it needs the tag: <body bgcolor="#FFFFFF"> Otherwise, since the test page has no background color specified, every user will see the background as whatever their browser defaults to (black, white, gray,...), which invalidates the test.
