Here are results of Gandalf4.32g in 3 test positions that could happen or happened in my correspondence games(Gandalf solved 2 out of 3 in less than an hour) and another position that happened in a correspondence game of my friend. I posted these positions in the past but I am interested in today results of top programs. Please give them one hour on PIII450 or eqvivalent time on your hardware. 1)This position could happen in one of my correspondence games. [D]r1bqr1k1/pp1p1ppp/5n2/1N2n3/2P1PB2/6P1/PP1Q1K1P/4RB1R b - - 0 1 (bm = d6) Gandalf4.32g(64 mbytes) failed high at depth 11 and found d6 after 54:14(54 minutes and 14 seconds) on my pIII450(evaluation 0.36 for white). Gandalf solved the fail high problem after 1:01:54 and had evaluation of 0.09 for white. 2)Again this position could happen in my correpondence games. [D]7r/1k2P2P/4p3/1pp5/8/2pp4/1n3PP1/R4K1R w - - 0 1 (bm = g4) Gandalf wants to play the wrong move 1.e8Q like other programs that I know(I believe that this move is losing) Evaluations of gandalf: 2.96/10 59 seconds 2.81/11 3:16 2.81/12 7:13 2.41/13 27:55 Gandalf could not solve this position in an hour and I have no time to give it more than it. This position is hard for chess programs and I doubt if there is a commercial top program that can find g4 in less than an hour but I did not check the latest programs that I bought. I know that there is a non commercial good program(Dark thought) that can solve it in 53 minutes and 34 seconds on a 600MHz Alpha-21164a and the speed of the machine is eqvivalent to pII450. Dark thought's results were always better than Gandalf in these 3 positions 3)This position happened in my correspondence game and my opponent blundered with Kg1 [D]r4rk1/2p3pp/p7/1p1pq3/8/2P2N2/PPQ2KPP/R1B5 w - - 0 1 (am = Kg1) After 43:38 seconds Gandalf avoids Be3 4)Another test position that happened in a correspondence game of my friend and in this case I did not test Gandalf because I need it for other tasks so if you want to compare gandalf with other programs in this position you can do it. [D]3r1b1k/pp6/2n2q1p/2Bp1B1Q/5P2/1P4p1/P7/4R1K1 w - - 0 1 (bm = Re6) Uri
