Where do you people get all this information? I checked Toms Hardaware and it seemed to show that the P4 was quite a bit better in performance than any AMD on the market. And who has done testing for it with chess programs? Is there some new technology coming very soon that would make it a better idea to wait on a purchase? It's been five years since the last one (I have a pentium 75 mhz and 16 megs of ram!) and I want a computer that will last awhile. I know AMD is cheaper, but at the moment all I care about is performance. Randy Schmidt's post seemed to say the best time to buy would be February, is this true?
