I think 1986 was Dallas. There was a WCCC that summer and then the ACM event won by Belle that fall where we couldn't attend as we couldn't get machine time. I think the game you are quoting was played in Orlando. >2 How todays top programs compare to Chiptest (the forerunner of Deep >Thought/Blue > >Before i was able to find draws for CB but no wins, before i disagreed with 14 >Na4 but now i find that move didn't matter too much. If I recall the position correctly, Ne6 wins for white. CB had seen a + score, and deep thought had failed low expecting Ne6. However, some sort of non- reproducible parallel search glitch made it play Na4 instead of Ne6. We could never reproduce Na4 of course... and blamed it on an unknown bug. I found the bug a year or two later when we moved to an even faster machine. > >CB did miss a draw on move 22 by the way of Rxe5 so in this respect how much >stronger is Crafty i am not sure how the ratings would work but to draw 1 out of >4 games you must be within 300points >Crafty deserves some kind of honorable mention at a minimum 396points below Cray >Blitz on the 1987 hardware.... > >the draw is found right away but more important the win....... > >move 20 Ba5!
