I've not used 640 by 480 for some years now. I also find 800 by 600 a bit restricting on what is displayed with the latest multi windowed chess programs. I find the best res for my use is 1024 by 768. But of course it depends on what monitor size, refresh rate of the monitor, type of graphics card, video ram available, and speed of processor plays a part as well. It seems, to extract the most advantage in playing strength and convenience you need to have an upto date system, ort at least a reasonably high spec system. Keith
