When you load a layout, what you are loading is actually a file that contains
layout information for ALL rooms, not just the room you are currently in. So,
what you need to do is set up ALL the rooms the way you want them, and then exit
the program. That will save your own personal layout automatically, meaning that
all rooms will be just like you last left them. If you do this, you should never
need to explicitly load a layout again.

Of course, just like you back up the data on your hard drive, it might be a good
idea to save your layout once you are sure that you have all of the rooms "just
right". Then if anything goes wrong, caused by either you or the program, you
can just load that "backup" layout and everything should be restored.
