John, These are probably equal in strength. I am actually more excited about Shredder 5.0 and its Triple Brain than I am about individual engines. SMK and Millenium have been getting some bad press lately and I think that we should forget about petty squabbles. SMK and Mr. Wiener need some help from a strong public relations firm. I own Gambit Tiger on the Rebel 11 CD and have said in the past that it is the only chess program that you may ever need. GT has a most entertaining style of play. Lawrence Chen recently put a chess problem up on this site two days ago that took the leading programs over 12 minutes on a PIII 600Mhz machine to solve. That included Gambit Tiger. Until we get faster computers and chess programs with ten times as much knowledge we will be less than satisfied. Buy both programs if you are confused. If you want to save money then get the Rebel 11 CD. If you want the best program and the most advanced ideas then get Shredder 5.0 for $100.00 US. I still think that the Rebel 11 CD is the best bargain out there. Tim Frohlick PS I foresee Millenium lowering its price on the Shredder 5.0 combo but only by $10.00 to $ 15.00 US. It is better to sell 100,000 units at $85.00 than 10,000 units at $100.00 US. On December 11, 2000 at 12:39:22, John Dahlem wrote: >I am confused here.
