Based on some tests with programs of the previous generation(s), including
Hiarcs 7.32, I assume that Chess System Tal II, Comet and Socrates 3 are
positionally best (many others performed better than H7.32 in my set of
positional tests, too).

But these impressions can vary much, depending on which test suite is used, or
if the programs are watched closely in games (which I haven't done often). The
reputation of Hiarcs as being positionally good, originates from LCT II test
results with the 3.0 version IMO. I have the impression that the engine became
more balanced during the version history - which means tactically and in the
endgame better, but positionally (probably) somewhat decreased.
