Actually, most of the rest are variations on one of the above themes. Usually
it's people claiming that Chessmaster cheated when it captured en passant, or
the stalemate problem above.

I did find another one:
---------

---------
So, I got him to send me a saved game where this "bug" supposedly occurred. In
it, there was a White Bishop on f4 and Black castled long. He apparently
believed that if the rook could be captured on any square that it traveled
through during the castle, then castling was not legal. It took about 5 e-mails
to convince him of this.

Another person swore that he had heard of the term "false checkmate" and wanted
the official explanation of it put into the game. I've never heard of it; have
any of you?

And there's always the people who have no technical vocabulary whatsoever, so
trying to get them to describe their problem relatively accurately can be
difficult at best -- "The little picture of the chess board looks funny", or "I
get a blue and white screen with some weird text on it".

Other common complaints are people who are upset that Chessmaster 5500 (or
earlier) doesn't support Windows 2000 or 98, completely forgetting the fact that
those versions came out before the Windows versions. Then they complain that
there isn't a patch for every bug created by every new platform, and expect the
latest version mailed out to them as compensation for the "buggy" 5-year old
program that they just bought at Target for $9.95.

And, of course, the one that makes me glad to be alive:

"How do I play a game?"
