Subject: SSDF is pretty good and is a general guide to relative program strength

Dear CCC,

Most of us here at CCC like the SSDF list. It is only a guide and does not
represent the whole amount of information about chess programs. I still like
MChessPro 7 and 8 even though those programs are much weaker than ChessTiger 13
or The King v.3.x . and end up low on the SSDF rating list.

If Rebel Century 3.0 gets less than first place it doesn't matter because it is
a fun program with a great database function plus an 800,000 game collection.

In the USA we have what is known as free speech. Furthermore, by being on this
site we have waived any rights to legal remedies for slander. If we don't like
having our pet projects be verbally assaulted then we should go elsewhere.

So I think that it would be good for Ed and any other chess programmer to get
their programs rated on the SSDF. More important than raw strength is the good
will and friendly service of an honest man.
