I'm afraid I don't know of a solution but I've wondered the same thing
myself. How exactly does this work on the DOS side? Is there some sort
of standard protocol known whereby ICS interfaces can talk to chess
engines?

AppleScript would be a perfect vehicle for this but first we would all
have to agree on a standard protocol.
