Subject: CENTURY 3.0 loses 2 Reti games to "Master Roberts" rated 2337 (pgn)

Author: Terry Ripple

Using an AMD K6-2, 266 Mhz MMX, Hash tables=40Mb, Time=40 moves/20 min. Setting-
is set to "strongest"!

Move #12..Bb6? is the begining of Century's problem! At 22 seconds it then shows
that it likes Be7, and continues to like this move up to 55 seconds when it
changes back to liking the move Bb6? It continues to like Bb6? until it reaches
12.01 ply and 9 min. thinking time to change it's mind back to the better move
Be7! This is the second Reti opening that Century lost due to not being able to
castle! But the first game might have not been lost if it had just thought a
little bit longer on it's losing move as it showed that it found the better move
just a few seconds later. Now this second game appears that even if it was
playing a 40 move/2 hour time control that on my computer it still might not
have been enough time, as it needed 9 min. but on a much faster processer that
probaly would make the difference!

Another mistake was on move #7..c5, because this pawn moved for the second-
time. The first time it moved was on #2..c6 which was in it's Tournament book.

On #12..Bb6? was bad as it allowed on #14.Ba3! On white's move #15 and #16, my
friend sacrificed 2 pawns for open lines and position!!

On move #57.Rxd6+!! left Century 3.0 defenseless and no counterplay of any kind!

Please give me your input on this game and if you would care to show thinking
time on move #12 for the black side, and what processer speed.

Enjoy the game,
Regards,Terry
