Several programs may have a disadvantage with faster timecontrols, eg. programs
like Shredder and Gandalf IMO. But identifying the exact disadvantage isn't
particularly easy without additional games. The standard time control rating
list of the magazine will probably have a substantial uncertainty attached.

I find that the SSDF list is the most interesting one as well due to the level
of consistancy. Whether it can be called standard games given the progress of
hardware is open to interpretation, but it certainly isn't blitz.

Not necessarily. That would have to follow a hardware upgrade to avoid the time
problems you mention. But otherwise I agree. Something like 40/90m on 1GHz
machines sounds reasonable to me.
