I finally opened & tried the Handspring Prism (33MHz color Palm clone) I got for my birthday last week. With Chess Genius 1.2, I did a quick benchmark that somebody had requested, comparing it to the Palm III: How long does it take for Genius, as Black, to reach ply 7 in its search after 1. e4 e5 2. a4 My times, give or take a second or so, are: Palm III: 52 seconds Prism: 21 seconds Which makes the new unit well over twice as fast. Plus the screen is vastly easier to see, which was the main motivation for wanting it. What kind of boost in rating for Genius 1.2 would I expect? ~80 points?
