I've had four AMD processors until now: K5, K6II-300, k6II-400, and Athlon-900.
In the last three of them, I have run Fritz 5, Fritz 5.32, Fritz 6, Hiarcs 7.32,
Shredder 4, Nimzo 2000, Rebel 10, Century and Century 3, Rebel Tiger,
Chessmaster 6000 and 8000. I never had any problem due to processor malfunction.
Anyway, as I live in Mexico, I can tell you that, at least here, there are some
problems with distributors which offer a discount if you buy the chip without a
box. A very learned friend told me that some of these chips have not passed the
quality control from the manufacturer, so once in a while they can give some
trouble. I know you live in Chile, so it is possible that the same policy of the
distributors takes place there. If you bought your processor without a box it
may be faulty. It MAY, I insist. Anyway, AMD has always been a reliable
manufacturer for me.
