The bitboard programs will most likely get the biggest boost but other will also benefit e.g. hash table probing. I think Bob Hyatt has been preparing for 64 bit since 1996 when he started Crafty. Most apps are written in c or c++ so it'll be a simple re-compile for most people. >someday kns will be an obsolete chess term no longer used. It already is! Steve
