Well, in that case let me give you my experience after the posession and use of
a long series of PC's along the years. I have had of almost any tipe, from 8088
to the current AMD, passing trought 286,386, several 486, etc. An the most
reliable of them all is the already mentioned Compaq unit. It is just so with my
serie Armada or it is so with any product of Compaq? I am not sure by myself,
but info from other friends suggest me that Compaq computers of any kind and
line are the most reliable and best. In any case I am completely sure that the
endeavour to personally assemble or the adventure to purchase a guru assembled
one, well, neither of them is the best idea. Artisan kind of gurues cannot match
the expertise of a company when compatibility issues are at stake. Of course, I
discount the case where Bob Hyatt could be your personal guru :-) Sometime takes
time to grasp that a device does not do well with another in certain ocassions,
but then is too late.
If I was you I would purchase a Compaq unit with an intel processor. OK,
remember it is just MY experience.
Fernando
