Hi people,

I haven't dug in on this thread so I can't really say anything sensible about
how to to compute such significance tables like Christophe made. I just wanted
to give a link to Sandra de Blécourt's homepage for people who are interested in
the background of the Elo-system. I must admit that I haven't yet installed a
Postscript-reader so haven't read her thesis myself but I thought it might be of
some interest, as Prof. Elo's book is not always very illuminating and not
everybody has a copy of that around. There seem to be lots of other interesting
links, to tranlation pages etc. on Sandra's homepage as well.

Another subject, I tried Tom Kerrigan's TSCP translated to Pascal from
http://www.optimalcode.com/ but the .exe file won't accept any moves! I like the
idea though as personally I'm more familiar with Pascal than with C. Here in
Europe a lot of students learned Pascal, Fortran as a scientific computation
language never really cought on. I guess now it is C here too but Pascal is most
probably still taught as well because of its clear structure. Anyway in the TSCP
Pascal listing I ran into things like "continue", I can't really remember that
as Standard Pascal, does somebody maybe know what it does, if it is something
specific to Delphi or not?. Probably not the right forum for this. Haven't heard
anything of Tom for quite some time, I hope he is alright?

 Eelco
