Hi Richard, Yes, I have ExaChess Lite, and it does a good job of playing user v engine, and engine v engine. I believe it supports Gnuchess, zzzzzz, and MacChess 3.0e, and perhaps crafty. I also have the fixation code, but it is really complex and scattered, without much doc. The author seems to be in India for awhile. I decided a few days ago to write my own telnet interface. With the help of some CTB code found on the MacDigest(?) site (was MacTutor), and using the tcp/telnet CTB connection tool written by Tim Endres (sync calls only), I've just got a nice telnet interface going to fics. All it does so far is connect, and I can login, but I just have a bare window to plop the text into, and haven't got the chess program to parse any i/o. But it should be a simple matter to issue seeks, and figure out when someone accepts, and use style 12, or whatever. When I'm done, I'll have a good interface that other mac folks can use to connect and play online. They'll just have to modify their code to accept appleevents. WW
