In fact the final was full of 'Spanish' referents:

1) Anand is resident near Madrid (Spain).
2) Shirov is resident in Catalonia (Spain).
3) One of Anand's key analists is a Spaniard: Pablo Sansegundo.
4) One of the Shirov's key analysts is a Catalonian (Spaniard?): Jordi Magem.
and finally ...
5) In the second and crucial game they played the Spanish Opening !! 8-) .

Congratulations to Anand for his neat, clear win against Shirov's shadow. Forza,
Alexei, we need your art and creativity to help to maintain genuine chess ALIVE.

Best regards to all,

Tom.
