in reply to the above posts 1)anand has yet to prove himself against kramink and especially aginst kasparov(aginst whomm his record is atrocious) 2)kasparov, although born an armenian, has accepted russian citizenship and is therefore russian 3)fischer has rejected jewism and has expressed a great deal of hatred against it so i dont think he should be considered jewish 4)anand is probably the second indian player of world champonsghip class-the first being Mir Sultan khan-an illiterate servant of an indian nobleman(who could neither read nor write either a european or any indian language)and was completely self taught. after playing western style chess for barely a couple of years he played in europe- defeating capablanca in 1930 at hastings)-this game is present in the chessmasrter database of classic games-but severe ill health in the damp english weather and lack of further funding by his master prevented him from challenging for the world title.he was forced to return to india where he died penniless and in obscurity. 5)as far as religion is concerned Anad is hindu while sultan khan was muslim 6)Anand's given name is Anand. Vishwanathan is his father's name(he should therefore not be referred to as Vishy) and Anand does not have a surname. rajen gupta
