It was different with Tiger, which is why you can't compare the two examples
that you give. The differences are:

1) Discovering a bug before and after the testing has started.

2) Steen said that Gandalf was ready for testing while Christophe requested time
to fix a bug.

Anyone with an ounce of commen sense can comprehend the chain of events that
makes it possible to differentiate between the two cases.

My impression is that Ed approved the way it was being tested.

That problem was solved a long time ago. It didn't influence the decline in
rating.

The "g" version is not a patch, but an update. The appropriate testing procedure
will continue when the SSDF receive it.
