You are right about the size of the sampling, it is far too small. I am impatient and like to get a feel for just how much stronger the new engines are as quickly as possibly. Apparently all the new engines are not THAT much stronger or the results would be decisive much more quickly. Typically 100 Elo higher equates to 64% wins. 200 Elo equates to 76% wins. IMHO the difference between the top 3-4 engines is less than 100 Elo. This proves your point the smaller the Elo difference the larger amount of games that are necessary,but the larger the Elo difference the smaller the sampling could be. I.E How many games would a 2200 player win against an IM? What percentage?? Regards, Paul
