All kinds of connectivity would be nice but tcp/ip is the most versatile. Auto232 is butt ugly, but oh the nostalgia! I would rather have a standalone application but a graphical display of the board and analysis might be done by the GUI. But then again if you make a pipe or whatnot available for snooping in on the game and analysis a display can be made in short order by using Tcl/TK or some other, thus obviating the need for the GUI.
