Subject: Quota system for OT posts

Author: James Robertson

I've noticed that certain people here post off-topic posts (pontifications about
human players, political drivel, etc.) constantly. I think this is a problem,
and it needs to be fixed. One solution would be to delete anything that isn't
strictly computer chess, but we might miss a few otherwise interesting posts. My
solution is to use a quota system for off-topic posts. In other words, each
member is entitled to, say, five off-topic posts in one month. If someone dares
to exceed this number, then the offending posts will be ruthlessly purged from
our forum.

Perhaps we could even use this system to improve publicity for computer chess.
Maybe we can sell "permission packets": say, for $29.95 a member may post five
extra off-topic posts this month. Then maybe we can use the proceeds to host
tournaments or run TV ads or something.

What do you guys think?

James
