good result.  However, a couple of notes:  1.  the G3 is about 2x faster
than the P6/200 from my benchmarks.  However, I only have G3/275
benchmarks
so the /250 is unknown.  I'm assuming it scales.  2.  Perplexity is not
on
a pentium pro... it is on a pentium-200, which is at least 30% slower
than
the PRO...  so the speed difference is at least a factor of two.  3.
His
best ever rating is just over 2500, which leads me to believe that
either
the machine is used for other things as well, or else he is playing with
different openings for whatever reason (IE Brause on ICC plays a couple
of *very* specific gambit opening lines 90% of the time.)  But in any
case,
perplexity seems "perplexing".. :)

I'll be happy to pop over to fics with my P6/200 if you'd like to
schedule
a series of games.  That way we at least know how my machine performs,
what
book I'm using and that my machine will be idle except for Crafty...
just
give me some warning so I can have it jump to FICS...
