I think this has to do with the engineext.ini . You should check that every
engine is configured properly and throw the rest out . The Winboard adapter
seems to be very sensitive about invalid entries .

So far this is only a more or less educated guess but I haven't seen any crashes
recently after I threw every untested engine-entry out ; also it seems to help a
lot of problems if the first engine in your engineext.ini is one without start
parameters ( like crafty ).

Last but not least : get the latest version of the WinBoard adapter at
http://www.lokasoft.nl/uk/downloads.htm .
