To answer your questions: The reason that your system is slowing down is because The King is using as much of the CPU as it can. Any other programs that are running will be affected by this. Pondering should definitely be off if the personality doesn't use it. It is possible that you are getting confused by the checkboxes in the Thinking Lines dialog. If you select the "Chessmaster" checkbox, then the Chessmaster personality will be put in analyze mode. So, always uncheck the Chessmaster checkbox unless you want to see Chessmaster's opinion of the position as well. I just verified this with the strongest personality in the game that doesn't have pondering (i.e. "Deep Thinking"), which is Hans, and everything worked fine. Hans only thought on his turn. Make sure to only check the box of the side that is being played by the personality, and NOT the Chessmaster checkbox. The moves/minutes and seconds per move time controls are faulty, but the other time controls work fine. The patch will be released in about 3-4 weeks. The piece movement sounds bug, regarding Thematic and Simple sounds not working properly, has also been fixed in the patch. jm
