Something that works for me:  I got a linux box in the closet that serves files
and runs squid and some other junk.  I can use Winboard on my windows box and
have it connect to the crafty engine on the linux box, so that all the
"thinking" is done on another machine.  That's one nice thing about the linux
and its networking prowess.  Linux kernel 2.4 is out; wonder if there are any
goodies in there for chess engines.
