This also creats a new ".log" file after every move. I guess the effect on the strength of Crafty is still small but never the less it is there. Notice in your log file the Ponder move is made and Crafty continues it's search. This is what I was seeing but the "New" command is sent at the end of Crafty's move and not at the end of the opponents move. So I guess the effect is that Crafty starts with a new command when it starts pondering. I think this is similar to what Chessbase did originally. I wonder how many elo points Crafty loses by starting with a "clean" hash table every move. I think Bob also said that other things are happening in Crafty that are messed up too. I have always preferred the ChessParter GUI for Crafty anyway because it plays with it's own book. Jim
