I don't know that he's even discussing strength. I think he may be talking
about enterprising style of play and wonderful chess skills. Rebel Tiger does
not even use endgame tablebase files. I imagine that there are a lot of tricks
that could be tossed in (SMP, EGTB, etc) to give RT even sharper teeth.

In any case, I think I would rather watch Rebel Tiger play than just about any
engine. The games are fun and surprising and yet remain very strong. So many
computer chess games are 104 move "grind-em-out draws." Bleah! Half of the
SSDF games would put me to sleep. In fact, the free winboard engines are
sometimes more fun to watch just because they do crazy stuff.

My favorite chess program will always be crafty, but my favorite "commercial"
program is Chess Tiger (in all its flavors). I also like Rebel and Hiarcs, and
would like Chessmaster if it could process EPD records in batch. 'The King'
engine from CM5500 really humiliated me a few years ago. I don't know much
about the ChessBase engines, and I'm not really all that interested since they
won't process EPD records. I also like Shredder and plan to purchase a copy
soon to use with Chess Assistant.
