You get the idea Actually, having more memory for hash tables may actually decrease the NPS. However, it will be faster to reach the same depth, and that is what matters. I.e., to measure the speed effect of the hashtable size NPS is the wrong number to look at, instead you should look at the time needed to reach certain plys. An speedup of 2x (searches that took 10 minutes now take 5 minutes) is imposible for a strong engine only by doubling the hashtable size. I suspect it will hardly come close to 10% faster. José.
