Maybe the operator was trying to be a nice guy? When I play with
Mint on ICC or FICS I often offer a draw to a human when he's had
a winning position but blunders. Makes everybody's day better. The
score of the game per se doesn't matter at all the way I see it,
but rather the experience of the game, and not only for me but also
for everybody else involved.

Cheers from me to the operator for accepting the draw, it makes
me respect the Rebel team even more!
