But the program also changed. Sometimes, it was even a beta version (unless memory fails, which is not inconceivable). Assumptions often produce reasonable results. And if that is good enough for most people then it is good enough for them. Actually, it appears to me that most people would prefer an assumption over a fact. Pragmatically, they are often similar in value.
