Simulators for CPU's, quantum mechanical code relevant for Biochemistry, ..... SPEC is one of the finest benchmarks available. It's the only one I trust when considering a system for a particular task. It's a benchmark based on real-world applications. So, any compiler/hardware that does well with those tests, does most likely well with "real-world code". Gregor
