I just bought a copy of chessmaster8000 today, out of curiosity
more than anything else. On the back of the package it says in the
minimum requirements: Pentium 2. 233mhz . My computer is a Cyrix
P150+, not too far short of the requirement, but short nonetheless.
The program will not load. It takes ages for anything to happen, then
it flicks through the legal stuff, then nothing for a while, then an
error message, telling me I should do a scandisk. I did that, and still
the same things happen again when I start from scratch.
I thought the program would load, and maybe play a little slower because
of the slow hardware. Are there any others out there who have CM8K loaded
and playing normally with slow machines? ie, is there something wrong with
mine?
Any help would be appreciated. I'm told I can take the program back if
it turns out it's no good to me without a hardware upgrade.
