It is worth some effort.
(In the old days, this very "effort" was part of the intrigue.)

1. You must have an older boot floppy. The WinME boot floppy will not work.
2. It must have on it a DOS driver for the CD ROM drive, for installation
   and for the CD check.
3. Boot without an extended memory manager, and start H7 with the -x flag.

4. If, when you installed ME, you converted to the new file system, you must
   make a partition that is readable by the older DOS. Incidentally, if this
   is the case, and you then boot with the older DOS, it will call this
   partition "C".

(Then apply the 7.01 patch.)
