Dear CCC, I was in White Rock, British Columbia last week visiting my octogenarian parents. I, once upon a time, gave Dad my old 386/387 coprocessor machine so that he could have fun in his retirement. WinChess version 1.0 was one of the programs I put on it back in the early 1990's . Plays chess like an average chess club player. I beat it mercilessly. I enjoyed seeing the machine squirm. Of course, I do not think that 6-ply to 7-ply searches were very thrilling when we are getting 12 to 18 ply searches at the present. The play, when compared to Gambit Tiger was boring and the program only had a 13000 move opening book. Nonetheless, it was pure pleasure crushing the moron. Tim "Retroman" Frohlick
