My opinion is that the free Dos Chess programs were MUCH better than the free
16bit Chess programs.  If you wanted to put something on that old machine that
might still be chalanging on a slow computer, Dos programs like Now or Ychess
would both be good selections.  Now is still one of my favorites, I think Dann
offers a download of that now.

It's butt ugly, and you sort of need to remember some commands if you want to
adjust things, but this program can have a mercyless streak, it was strong for
it's time.  And it can be run on computers older than your father's.  Zillions
of things you can adjust in Now.
