I agree completely with you, I believe that computers and humans are so intrinsically different that it's not useful to compare them. Assigning a FIDE title or even a rating to a computer is like saying an orange tastes the same as a juicy apple. Of course, it depends on how you look at chess. To _me_ it's not just moves on a board, but to the many who believe it is this will sound like a load of donkeys-kidneys and naturally I respect that. I will admit, that I am often claiming to friends (who wonder what the hell I'm talking about) that Mint is IM strength in blitz, cos it sounds really impressive! :) (especially if you put some weight in "international master"!)
