So who do we contact if we object to this CD-ROM requirement? It's an annoyance
for those desktop users, but a major pain in the ass for us laptop users. Does
the CM marketing group really expect me to be taking their CD with me on
business trips (and I'm on the road every other week) in case my occasional game
asks for a CD???

I vote for requiring CD at installation, but not during play. I'm enjoying CM8k
on my laptop right now, and will now be forced to decide whether I want the bug
fixes or CD-free operation.
