CM8000 didn't completely follow the WinBoard spec on what notations engines can use to send their moves. The King sends its moves in coordinate, so that's all that CM8000 supported. It now supports (with the patch) both coordinate and SAN. However, it will NOT support foreign versions of SAN, where the piece names are in other languages (as is often seen in posts here). Dr. Hyatt said that newer versions of Crafty would use SAN rather than coordinate, and I guess that day has come. jm
