Ed,

each of the programs I quoted to have found the right move came up with positive
evals so much so that I took it for granted they "knew" what they were doing,
except for Patzer 3.11b that, interestingly, clutches onto 1.Rxc6 right off, and
shows a slightly negative eval for White for some time.  That is one of Roland's
tricks, possibly a heuristic again.  That's why Patzer does some things no other
program will. He assigns good-sized boni to human knowledge patterns trying to
capture them in his code.  Sometimes this works, sometimes not.
