Terry,
I too had trouble. It's as if there was a problem with info that might be
in the Windows registry or the setup program can't get the info it needs from
the chssbase.ini file. I extracted the downloaded update to a temporary folder.
I then ran Setup.exe which asked for the path to Fritz6. I told it g:\ChessBase
(which was a mistake). I should have specified g:\ChessBase\Fritz6 which would
have been correct for MY system. So the first try scattered some files around
which I had to clean up. The second time the files went where intended.

I also had to run Setup.exe twice. Like I said the first(and technically
second) time it installed some files. The next time I got the Installation
Dialog that almost everyone else seems to get on the first run.

I thought to myself: I could always kill the old installation, reinstall and
then apply the patch. However, it didn't come down to that.

So maybe I had problems because I originally had installed Frtz6 to a folder
other than the default suggestion. I remember after the original installation I
had to correct several lines in the F6.ini file by hand. Otherwise the program
always wanted to store/dump info into c:\My Documents\ChessBase, which I simply
hated.

At any rate maybe something I've said here will be of use to you. Br5an
