 Hello,

first of all make sure you are using a crossover cable for proper operation.
I beleive the correct pinout is 2-3 ,3-2 and 5-5 for minimal operation. Then I
recommend trying to connect using Hyperterminal to see if the hardware end works
ok first. Check the configuration under system properties to be sure that the
com port you are using is free and does not have an IRQ conflict with another
device. When I first started using auto 232 my COM1 shared an IRQ with my NIC
(hehe ) that was fun. typically com1 will be irq4 and com2 irq3. Assuming that
both computers are identical...does one have some extra goodies installed?
Sometimes installing extra cards etc. takes away resources.
Thanks,

Ed
